  • WOW - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I purchased a 2005 Limited with the 5.7 Hemi. Love it! I have a 22 ft 5500 lb. boat that it pulls with ease. This is the sixth Jeep I have owned, the last being a 1999 Grand Cherokee Limited. The new design is much improved. The better handling is noticeable as is the comfort of the interior design. The Hemi is awesome! If you need the extra power for towing or whatever, it is worth paying extra for. The gas mileage I have been getting is 16 around town, 18 plus on the highway. Not bad for that big engine.

Definitely love the exterior much more than the last model. Safe feel when driving. Interior is nice and love the little features like reversible cargo holder in trunk. Stock base stereo/speakers are pretty adequate. Engine is underpowered though with the v6. This is a heavy truck so another 20 hp would be extremely helpful. Also hate the transmission programming. ItÂ’s always shifting too soon and is always one gear too high when going up a big hill or even a small one. Truck is still a great value. Full time AWD is a great feeling.

First of all, I know nothing about mechanics. But I have had problems with my Jeep from day one. First day I had it would not shift past 35 mph, it got worse and I had to call roadside assistance. They sent a tow truck from out of town so it took over an hour. Turns out something was wrong with the transmission. Then all winter long the service 4 wheel drive light would come on, dealer could never find the problem. October 2006 it started stalling as I drive at low speeds. Again dealer cant find the problem it now does this at least once a week and Ive been told theres nothing they can do. Its been to the dealership for leaks around the sunroof and windshield 3xs.

  • Take a Closer Look at the Grand Cherokee - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

The Grand Cherokee is a fun vehicle to drive. In reading some of the professional reviews, I was skeptical until I actually drove the Jeep. It has a 4.7 V8, which has plenty of power, and we have found it to be a very comfortable vehicle. The interior has plenty of room and everything is conveniently located. Ours is "optioned" up pretty good and has the Quadra Drive II. Overall, I would highly recommend the Grand Cherokee to anyone looking for a fun, mid-size SUV.

  • Hemi Limited Quadra Drive II Rocks! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Ive owned several SUVs and this one has been reliable, luxurious, capable of handling off road trips, and fast. I like the clean lines, simplicity of the controls/switches, and the leather interior is nice and the seats are very comfortable. The 5.7L Hemi is a rocket and the 4wd Quadra Drive system handles snow, ice, rain, mud, and off- roading/camping with ease. My only wish is for better gas mileage, as I get 15mpg in the city and only 18mpg on the hwy at 75mph. Ive not had a single problem with this Jeep and would buy again. It has a 7yr/70k powertrain warranty, so Ill keep it at least that long--not anticipating any problems with regular maintenance. Id recommend this vehicle.

I am very disappointed with my Jeep. After only owning it for 6 months I began to have problems. The air conditioner will only work on High. This has been repaired twice. The check engine light has been on numerous times. There is an awful wind sound while driving. The CD player will not eject CDs sometimes or even switch to the CD player. The car jerks when switching gears. Overall I am very disappointed in the time I have had to spend in the dealership with this vehicle. I do not recommend buying this.

  • Update After 6+ Months - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

Well I am back with a 6+ month review. This vehicle still gets very poor gas mileage. 15.673 per gallon to be exact (calculated by taking current mileage and dividing by gallons used to fill tank ---- 40 times). It still has a horrible tendency to down shift like a 67 Chevelle station wagon. Baaaaam! Is the best way to describe it. Sometimes bad enough to think you have been rear-ended. This is my third Jeep. And my last. Steer clear of Jeeps. That are not what they once were.

  • MUCH Better Than my 2002! - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee

I recently Test-Drove the New Jeep a few weeks ago and liked it! I have a 2002 and, as Reviews say, the 1999-2004 Jeeps Rock From Side-To-Side! This one doesnt!!!!!!!! I Test-Drove the New 5.7L Hemi!!!!!!!!

  • Problematic Vehicle - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

We have owned the truck since it was brand new, and now it has 177,000 miles on it. Recently, the EGR valve had to be replaced, as did the front C/V joint, radiator, and water pump. The transmission is noisy, and gas mileage is horrible. It was a good car when it was new, but has started to show its age.

  • Transmission replacement at 10k miles - 2005 Jeep Grand Cherokee
    By -

This is the SUV from hell! There is a strange squeaky noise from the rear seats. The transmission light keeps coming on. The other day all lights (park, neutral, reverse, and drive) came on at the same time while driving. The RPMs were over 4k. The service center has been a nightmare also. No records of us bringing the truck in for repair. They ordered a computer chip for the transmission and cant find it. Great! Now, 3 months later and I still have transmission issues. We bought it brand new 2005 with four miles on it.
